The Kananaskis Alpine Ski Club (“KASC”) is a member club of the Nakiska Alpine Ski Association (“NASA”) located in Calgary, AB. NASA consists of 5 independent ski clubs comprising 300+ athletes and 40+ coaches. Working in conjunction with the other NASA member clubs, KASC is committed to delivering an athletic program to Canada’s most promising and dedicated U16 alpine skiers so they can attain their maximum individual athletic potential. Our goal is to raise the bar in the standard of athlete and ski racer development while keeping the cost of the sport accessible to as many families as possible.
Reporting to the Program Director, the Head U16 Coach plays a key role in developing our young talent and providing our FIS program with athletes possessing; solid technical base, tactical knowledge, work ethic, passion and desire to succeed.
KASC is seeking a U16 Head Coach for the 2025-26 season.
Reporting to the NASA Program Director (PD), the U16 Head Coach plays a key role in developing our young talent and providing our FIS team with athletes possessing solid technical base, tactical knowledge, work ethic, passion, and a desire to succeed.
Responsibilities
- In coordination with the NASA Strength and Conditioning coach, deliver the dryland training
- In coordination with the NASA PD, develop a nation leading U16 program.
- Align with ACA LTAD pathway for program design.
- Provide a safe and challenging on-snow training environment appropriate for athletic
- Deliver all aspects of the on-snow training and competition program.
- Create an environment where our top talent can rise to their potential.
- Take ownership of the athletes’ development & results.
- Lead a coaching team of two or more Assistant Coaches.
- Provide leadership to their staff and problem solve within their scope of work.
- Drive team van to training and competition venues as needed.
- Work with NASA Transportation Safety Officer (TSO) to ensure all KASC vehicles are operating in compliance with the NASA Driver Safety and Vehicle Maintenance Program.
- Ensure all KASC issued equipment is maintained and operational throughout the
- Understand the full NASA program and its Actively promote the Club to internal and external parties.
- Ensure all athletes abide by the NASA Code of Conduct.
Qualifications
- 3+ years as a Head Coach at U16 or younger and/or 5+ years’ experience coaching at U16 or
- Minimum ACA Development Level Performance Level Trained/Certified preferred.
- Personal high-level competition experiences an
- Ability to travel abroad for camps and
- Valid Alberta class 4 driver’s license or willingness to
- Experience working effectively with parents, athletes, coaches, and other
- Track record of successfully developing athletes to the top of their age class.
- Team player able to work well and communicate with other members of a larger coaching
