Competitions and Programs Manager (CPM)ย 

The CPM will report to Alpine Ontario Alpin (AOA)โ€™s Executive Director and is responsible for the execution and administration of AOA Competitions and Programs.ย  The CPM will liaise with AOA team members, club coaches, athletes, families and key stakeholders on communication, coordination, logistics and programming in regard to the AOA programs and competitions.ย ย ย 

Some of the amazing work you’ll do:ย 

Provincial Competitionsย 

  • Lead in the development of a fair and competitive schedule for OCUP series racing, and OCUP finalsย 
  • Tracking and publication of OCUP series pointsย 
  • Collaborate with age group leads/consultants to assign referee and course setters for OCUP eventsย 
  • Ensure the activation of sponsor assets are delivered as per partnership and ministry contractsย 

Marquee Event Directionย 

  • Lead a 2-year planning cycle and bids for U16 Eastern Nationals, Nor-Amโ€™s, Can-Amโ€™s and Ontario Winter Games, OCUP Finalsย 
  • Explore potential new event expansion opportunities, including para-alpine and ski crossโ€ฏย 
  • Establish event contracts with all major events and support ROCโ€™s pre-, during and post-event to ensure race quality and guidelines areโ€ฏmetย 
  • Contract required technical or race quality control experts for the execution of high-quality eventsย 
  • Liaise with other alpine PSOโ€™s and ACA to establish a national calendar that benefits Ontario’s development pathway ย 

Event Fundingย 

  • Research and apply for provincial funding opportunities in collaboration with Race Organizing Committeeโ€™s (ROCโ€™s) and member clubsย 
  • Partner and explore funding options with municipalities in all regions to support all events across the provinceย 

Alpine Ontario Athletic Committee (AOAC)ย 

  • Act as secretary and/or chair of the AOAC.ย  Maintain monthly meeting agendaโ€™s, minute taking and governance of the AOACย 
  • Upon recommendations of the Alpine Ontario Athletic Committee and Officials Committee, update the provincial competition rules, regulations, divisional rotations, and event quotas for the Ontario event series (eg. OCUP)ย 
  • Lead the execution of special projects and AOA athletics initiatives that help to fulfill our organizational goalsย 

AOA High Performance Plan โ€“ U16HPP, U14HPDย 

  • Co-lead with HP Director the development and delivery of an annual stakeholder communication plan re: projects, webinars, camps, including locations and key dates ย 
  • Communication, recruitment, and relationship building with member clubs, parents, and athletes; including presentations, webinars, collateral and calendars ย 
  • Coordination and logistics for projects and initiatives, e.g., camp and project travel bookings, managing budget and reportingย 
  • Collaborate and meet regularly with AOA HP/Athletic Director and AOA U16 representative for planning and coach recruitmentย 
  • Create reports for the AOA website, newsletters (e.g., Raceline), and the Executive Director and/or Board upon request ย 

High-Performance Teamsย 

  • Execute the athlete and coach selection process for OCUP Finals as well as National and CanAm level competitions. Ie. U16 Eastern Championships, Whistler Cup, U14 CanAmsย 
  • Coordination and logistics for National and CanAm level competitions, e.g., travel bookings, athlete uniforms procurement, managing budget and reporting; attend projects/races as requiredย 
  • Administrative and data collection support for OST, ODST, and OPAST teamsย 
  • Manage Athlete Tracking and monitoring systems and data upon request. E.g. Smart-a-baseย 
  • Support the administrative reporting with Ontario High-Performance Sports Instituteย 
  • Support an OPAST recruitment program to ensure a healthy pipeline of para-athletesย 
  • Work to integrate Para into AOA programmingย 

Communicationย 

  • Ensure consistent and effective communication and consultation with all stakeholders and partnersย 

Human Resource Managementย 

  • Hire and supervise event activation staff ย 
  • Ensure contracts are in place for AOA project coachesย 

Working Conditionsย 

  • Full Time position consisting of mostly office-based work at the AOA offices in Collingwood, ON.ย 
  • Events require time working outdoors in winter conditions and weekend work during marquee events.ย 
  • Requires lifting and moving event materials, and walking on snow.ย 
  • Some overtime required during peak periods to be taken as time in lieu as scheduling permits through the summer months.

  • Position involves some provincial travel through the winter season.ย 
  • Understanding of Long-Term Athlete Development model and Canadian Sports System
