Équipe de Ski National Capital Outaouais Ski Team (NCO) is hiring!
Position: Program Director/FIS Head Coach
The NCO: The NCO seeks to unite the best alpine ski athletes in the National Capital and Outaouais region and to provide an exceptional alpine ski racing and training program in a positive, competitive, and enjoyable atmosphere. Its mission is to both develop athletes to a level allowing them to graduate to the Provincial Ski Programs and/or Collegiate Programs both in Canada and the NCAA and develop individuals who are passionate about alpine skiing and ski racing who are motivated to succeed and maintain long-term involvement in the sport of skiing.
Duties:
- In conjunction with the NCO Board, design, lead and implement athletic programs for FIS and U16 athletes in accordance with national and provincial guidelines and consistent with Alpine Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development recommendations
- Communicate with all necessary organizations (FIS, ACA, PTSO’s, local clubs, etc.) to ensure the proper execution of the programs and compliance with PTSOs’ priorities
- Responsible for athlete identification and selection with the assistance of the NCO Board
- Support initiatives to improve membership and increase athlete uptake and retention
- Oversee the day-to-day delivery and operation of the programs
- Develop pre-season and in-season on and off snow training plans, and FIS race calendars
- Design athlete development plans, and monitor progress and provide on-going evaluations to athletes verbally and periodic written progress reports
- Provide transportation, as required, in a team provided vehicle, to training and race venues
- Arrange accommodations and meals for team travel
- Assist athletes with equipment selection and race/training preparation
- Responsible for identifying appropriate NCO training equipment (such as gates, radios and timing system) and ensuring its maintenance
- In conjunction with the Board, develop and manage annual program budgets
- Monitor on-going program expenses and provide expense reports to the NCO Board in a timely manner and as required
- Manage coaching staff, including conducting on-going evaluations and providing feedback to the NCO Board, as required
- Communicate regularly with parents and athletes
- Report to the NCO Board as required on all matters related to the operation of the programs and athlete development
Qualifications:
- Minimum Certification: Performance level or equivalent
- Preferably 5 years of FIS experience (a combination of FIS coaching and personal athletic experience may be considered in some circumstances)
- Valid Ontario Class F driver’s license or equivalent (or willingness to obtain it)
- Valid passport for international travel
- Bilingual English/French an asset
Skills:
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- A sports enthusiast with high integrity and ethics
- Be able to work in a team environment with athletes ranging in age from 14 to 19
- Willingness to work long days and variable hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays during the winter season
- Willingness to travel
- Personal suitability as determined by the NCO Coach Selection Committee
Compensation/Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience
