Collingwood, ON – Alpine Canada is very excited to partner with Alpine Ontario, Georgian Peaks Ski Club and Osler Ski Club to showcase some of the best women ski racers in North America during the Nor-Am Cup Giant Slalom and Slalom races.  “Coming off a record setting four-medal performance at the 2023 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Courchevel/ Méribel, France, earlier this month, we hope that Canadian success will continue into this North American Cup Series,” says Jeff Thompson, Alpine Canada’s Vice President of Sport Development and Events. “It will be a great opportunity for the ski racing community to see some of Canada’s brightest up and coming stars, among them Ali Nullmeyer and Britt Richardson, who won a bronze medal in the team event, both of whom competed in the World Alpine Championships.”

Alpine Ontario Executive Director, Patrick Biggs, adds “Hosting these events in our own backyard is an incredible opportunity to expose our ski community to world class racing and give the opportunity for our Provincial Teams to race at their local clubs.”

In addition to the 4 races, Alpine Ontario is excited to again offer the Fast and Female athlete ski day, and the Mackenzie Investments Women in Coaching Program as part of the Women in Ski Racing week surrounding the Nor-am events. Biggs says, “The Mackenzie Investments Women in Coaching Program will host 17 coaches from across Ontario who were selected to learn from mentors on the Nor-Am field of play and participate in networking with other female coaches from across the province. Along with the Fast and Female day, these initiatives will continue to support female athletes and coaches as they learn new skills alongside world-class events. Thank you to both Mackenzie Investments and the community for supporting these impactful initiatives.”

About the Nor-Am Cup. The Nor-Am Cup is the most competitive racing series in North America outside of the World Cup. Athletes who earn a top spot in the season series are provided with a birth on the World Cup for the following competitive season. The races attract some of North America’s best alpine ski racers, including members of the Canadian and US Alpine Ski Teams.  Members of the Ontario Ski Team and Quebec Ski Team will also be in the gates, for some of the younger athletes, these events will be their first exposure to such a high calibre of racing.
