HEAD COACH OF DEVIL’S GLEN

Alpine Ontario extends a heartfelt thank you to Cam Stephen, longtime coach of the Ontario Ski Team Women’s program, for his dedication and contributions to the sport. Cam has recently accepted the position of Head Coach at Devil’s Glen, where he will take on an exciting new challenge in developing young racers while also enjoying more time closer to family.Throughout his tenure, Cam has played a pivotal role in Ontario’s ski racing success—both by guiding athletes to their highest potential and by strengthening the provincial system through his leadership. Over the past six years coaching Ontario’s women, he has helped athletes achieve NorAm success, compete at the World Junior Championships, and secure NCAA scholarships.

Cam’s thoughtful and holistic approach to program planning has been invaluable—not only for his athletes but also for the broader organization. His work with the Canadian Sport Institute of Ontario has enhanced Alpine Ontario’s programs, and his tireless efforts during the challenges of COVID ensured that teams could remain on snow. From navigating government regulations to planning and reporting, his dedication was instrumental in keeping operations running.

A true student of the sport, Cam devoted time to supporting the Canadian Alpine Ski team as an additional support coach in 2021, while more recently pursuing his FIS TD licence. A giver to those around him, he is regularly present at Alpine Ontario coach conferences, workshops, and has worked directly with young coaches and athletes within our U16 projects.

Cam writes: “Before leaving the team, I would like to express my sincerest thank yous to a few groups. It has been an incredible 6 years with the team, with so many incredible learnings and experiences.

First, to the athletes, I thank you so much for your trust, confidence, unbelievable efforts, and the courage to chase your dreams. You have been the greatest of teachers!! To the families of our athletes thank you for the trust to travel around the world with your daughters (and sons) and the willingness to support your children chasing the dream. To our AOA office staff and leadership, thank you for your patience and all the work behind the scenes. You are unsung heroes and instrumental in all our success. To our sponsors and supporters, thank you, we really cannot do it without you. To the countless coaches, clubs, ski areas, shops, hotels, and companies, and friends in Ontario and around the world thank you for all the smiles, laughs, and hard work for us. Finally, I would say thank you to Candice and my family for your love and support as I have chased my dreams and passion with the team.

Looking forward I am excited to be joining the Devils Glen family and to help the club move towards becoming Canada’s premier racing club. It’s an incredible opportunity with a highly motivated leadership team, staff, and membership. I am doubly excited that this will allow me to be home to spend more time with my family and support our kids in their own passions and dreams.”

We wish  Cam  the Best of Luck in his new role at Devil’s Glen and thank him immensely for all he has done and continues to do for ski racing in Ontario.
