Following the World Cup Ski Cross excitement at Craigleith Ski Club (March 12-15), Alpine Canada, Canada Ski Cross, and Alpine Ontario will collaborate to host a two-day training camp for athletes and coaches. This unique opportunity will allow participants to train on a track similar to the one used in the World Cup final event, fostering skill development and competitive experience.
Athlete & Coach Training
- U12-U18 Ski Cross Racers gained hands-on experience on the slopes, refining techniques in a professional setting.
- Coaches participated in on-snow training, receiving mentorship from experienced Evolve Team coaches while engaging in the Ski Cross module to enhance their skills.
- Mentorship Program: Evolve Team athletes and coaches will actively mentor developing Ski Cross athletes, providing guidance and shared learning experiences.
Development & Community Impact
- The training program aims to bridge the gap between junior and elite-level competition, offering an immersive learning environment for aspiring ski cross racers.
- Proceeds from the camp will contribute to the Nik Zoricic Foundation, reinforcing its mission to advance Canadian ski athletes through enhanced safety measures, training initiatives, and development programs.
This SX training initiative represents a valuable collaboration within the ski racing community, offering significant developmental opportunities for racers and coaches. By leveraging the momentum of the World Cup Ski Cross, this program is set to elevate skill levels, promote mentorship, and contribute to athlete safety and progress in Canadian ski racing.
