Position: Full-Time

Our athletes have performed throughout the province, at the NCAA collegiate level, and all around the world including representing Canada at international competitions and the Olympic Games. Reporting to the Director of Alpine Programs, the Head Coach will be responsible for elevating the racing program to the highest level.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the overall development and management of the Club’s ski racing programs including the hiring, training, and management of the coaching staff, and will work closely with the AP Administrators, Event Managers, Operations team, and Ski Patrol to continue to deliver best-in-class races and events.
As Head Coach your responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following.
PROGRAMMING AND ATHLETES’ DEVELOPMENT
- Primary focus will be the development and execution of the Club’s racing programs from U8 to FIS and Adult Programming.
- Manage the Club’s high-performance programs and coaching staff.
- Build on the Club’s strong reputation of high-quality programming and racing excellence.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget for all programming, monthly reporting, and reporting revenues against expenses.
- Assist in organizing groups, parent communication, and implementation of daily program goals.
- Provide timely and effective communication to athletes, parents, and coaches.
- Work closely with the team to ensure all programs are scheduled with the appropriate coach and carried out with excellence.
- Ensure safe training and race environment for athletes.
- Ensure plans and arrangements for away camps and events are completed and carried out within budget. This includes sanctioned racing camps for any programs.
- Ensure dryland training programs are organized, in-place, and continued throughout the Fall season for interested parties in our programs.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining all equipment for programs including B netting, gates, drills, video equipment, computers, timing equipment, etc.
COACH DEVELOPMENT
- Manage the training of the coaching staff and provide regular feedback on their on-snow delivery.
- Support the annual performance review of the coaching staff and provide opportunities for growth and feedback.
- Ensure all coaches are enforcing the Canadian Ski Coaches Code of Conduct and all Devil’s Glen policies.
- Responsible for hiring, mentoring, and training of all coaches.
- Responsible to ensure all coaches have appropriate certification, training, and ability for the ages they are working.
- Provide appropriate coaching education annually and on an on-going basis throughout the season to ensure that coaches are trained and have the required skills to perform their jobs successfully.
MEMBER ENGAGEMENT
- Build and maintain positive relationships with members and staff.
- Ensure availability to members and athletes for conversations, advice and to resolve issues in a reasonable time.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the Club’s fundraising program including: the Devil’s Glen Partnership Program, Alpine Programs Auction, themed fundraisers, and the Alpine Programs Annual Banquet.
- Ensure a strong social media presence is maintained for the racing program that is inclusive for members and supports the Club’s communication policies.
RACES AND EVENTS
- Act as Safety Delegate at all hosted events unless a suitable replacement is delegated.
- Work with Alpine Ontario Alpin and associated governing bodies to ensure race quality.
- Oversee or conduct the setting and safety of all alpine courses and environments at the Club while teaching others course setting skills.
- Ensure the Club has adequate race staff for all events hosted by the Club and that race staff are trained.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- ACA-CSC Performance Level coach and Learning Facilitator, CSIA Level III or similar.
- 10 + years of developing and leading programming in the alpine industry and experience in mentoring and coaching large teams.
- Engage in professional activities offered by Alpine Canada Alpin, Coaching Association of Canada.
- Engage in professional activities offered by Alpine Ontario Alpin, Coaching Association of Ontario.
- Participate in professional development activities focused on athlete safety, inclusivity, diversity, and equity in sport.
- An industry leader on the cutting edge of the sport of alpine racing.
- Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills, problem-solving skills, and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office 365.

- Must be able to perform physically demanding activities e.g. installing B netting, setting courses, etc.
- Must be able to work alone without direct supervision.
- Must be able to work in all types of weather e.g. cold, heat, rain, and wind.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required.
HOURS OF WORK
- Full-Time
- Summer Season – June through August typically Monday to Thursday with Fridays off except when conducting camps, programs, or other summer events.
