About Us

The Grouse Mountain Tyee Ski Club has been developing young ski racers since 1929. We are proud to foster a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and fun. Located on the iconic Grouse Mountain, we offer high-quality alpine ski race programs for athletes aged 6 to 18. Our U16 program is a critical stage in athlete development, balancing skill progression, competition, and a lifelong love of skiing.

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated, positive, and experienced Assistant Coach to join our U16 coaching team for the 2026/27 season. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, strong communication skills, and a passion for developing young athletes both on and off the hill.

Key Responsibilities

Support the U16 Head Coach in delivering on-snow and off-snow training sessions
Help plan and execute seasonal training and competition schedules
Provide individualized feedback and technical instruction to athletes
Contribute to athlete assessments and development planning
Ensure athlete safety and positive team culture at all times
Assist with race-day logistics and athlete support during competitions
Maintain clear communication with coaches, athletes, and parents

Qualifications & Requirements

ACA Development Level Trained (minimum), or international equivalent
Valid ACA coaching license, including SafeSport and a clean criminal record check
Ski racing background
Experience coaching or working with U14+ age groups
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Enthusiastic, team-oriented, and dependable
Valid driver’s license and access to transportation
Ability to work weekends, holidays, and travel for competitions as required, including:
Tuesday AND Thursday night training (~4:30/8:30pm)
Saturday AND Sunday all day (~7:30am/3:30pm)
One 4- to 5-day camp per month in January, February and March

Preferred Assets

First Aid certification
Experience as a competitive ski racer (alumni of club programs a plus)
Strong knowledge of Alpine Canada’s LTAD (Long-Term Athlete Development) model
