The Grouse Mountain Tyee Ski Club is seeking an inspiring, organized, and athlete-centered U14 Head Coach to join our high-performance alpine ski racing team.

This role is an opportunity to lead a passionate group of U14 athletes while contributing meaningfully to the broader direction and culture of one of BC’s most respected ski racing clubs.
About the Role
The U14 Head Coach is responsible for the planning, leadership, and delivery of the U14 program, including athletic development, race programming, staff leadership, communication, travel coordination, and operational management. The role also plays a key part in fostering a healthy, sustainable, and performance-oriented training culture throughout the organization, supporting athletes as they transition from the Learn to Train stage into the Train to Train stage of development.
Working closely with the Program Director and coaching team, the successful candidate will help athletes build strong technical foundations, healthy training habits, confidence, independence, and competitive skills in alignment with Alpine Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development & Delivery
● Design and implement the annual U14 training and competition plan aligned with ACA LTAD principles.
● Lead dryland, fitness testing, on-snow training camps, race preparation, and competition programming.
● Collaborate with the Program Director to adapt programming throughout the season as required.
● Maximize training opportunities through collaboration with clubs, resorts, and provincial partners.
● Support athlete development through technical coaching, equipment education, and race preparation.
● Ensure athlete safety, wellbeing, and positive team culture during training and travel.
● Coordinate race entries, licensing, insurance, and team travel logistics.
● Provide regular athlete progress feedback to athletes, families, and the Program Director.
Strength & Conditioning Leadership
● Deliver age-appropriate strength and conditioning programs in accordance with the club’s philosophy and guidelines.
● Work collaboratively with coaches, sports medicine practitioners, and performance partners.
● Support athlete rehabilitation and injury prevention initiatives.
● Develop systems for athlete progress tracking and annual program evaluations.
● Promote healthy training habits and physical literacy.
Communication & Relationship Building
● Establish clear, professional, and supportive communication with athletes and families.
● Lead preseason and postseason parent meetings and provide regular team updates.
● Build positive relationships with BC Alpine, ACA, race organizers, clubs, and industry partners.
● Participate in zone, provincial, and club leadership meetings.
● Advocate for athlete opportunities, sponsorships, and special projects where appropriate.
Staff Leadership
● Support hiring, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating assistant coaches and support staff.
● Foster a collaborative, accountable, and growth-oriented coaching environment.
● Help establish clear staff expectations and performance objectives.
Administration & Operations
● Support operational sustainability through responsible scheduling and budget management.
● Maintain accurate records for travel, expenses, inventory, and equipment.
● Coordinate maintenance and management of training equipment and club inventory.
● Assist athletes with scholarship, bursary, and educational support documentation where applicable.

Preferred Qualifications
● DL Cert. ACA coaching status (or international equivalent).
● Valid ACA license, including SafeSport, and a clean background check.
● Ski racing experience at the FIS level. (Provincial, NCAA or National team level is an asset.)
● 5 years coaching experience in alpine ski racing.
● Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills.
● Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively throughout the winter season.
● Experience with strength and conditioning programming is an asset.
● First Aid (20+) hours is an asset.
