Performance & Development Mandate
The National Ski Academy (NSA), celebrating 40 years, is a high-performance alpine racing academy dedicated to producing competitive, results-driven athletes. For four decades, our student-athletes have achieved measurable success at U14, U16, FIS, OST, NCAA, and national team levels.
Reporting to the Executive Director we are seeking a results-driven, experienced high-performance coach to build and coach our FIS program.
Position Summary: Why This Role Matters
The FIS Coach plays a critical role in the technical, tactical, physical, and personal development of alpine athletes during a key stage of their competitive pathway. This position is responsible for creating a positive, high-performance training environment that supports long-term athlete development while fostering confidence, resilience, discipline, and a strong team culture.
The coach will lead on-snow training, competition and preparation face, Track athlete progression, and communication with families and program stakeholders, while ensuring athlete safety and well-being remain a top priority.
Key Responsibilities Athlete Development
▪ Develop and deliver FIS appropriate high-performance alpine training programs
▪ Support athletes in developing race strategy, course inspection skills, and competition readiness
▪ Promote long-term athlete development principles and sustainable progression Performance
Coaching
▪ Plan and lead on-snow training sessions, camps, and race support
▪ Analyze athlete performance and provide constructive feedback
▪ Support physical preparation,
▪ Help athletes develop mental resilience, confidence, accountability, and focus under pressure
Athlete Well-Being & Safety
▪ Maintain a safe and structured training environment at all times
▪ Ensure compliance with the NSA, provincial, and national safety standards
▪ Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and personal responsibility
▪ Build strong relationships with athletes, parents, coaching staff, and program leadership
▪ Serve as a positive role model and mentor for young athletes
Communication & Administration
▪ Communicate training plans, schedules, and athlete progress effectively with families and staff
▪ Assist with program planning, logistics, equipment coordination, and athlete evaluations
▪ Collaborate with other coaches and support staff to align athlete development pathways
Qualifications
The FIS Coach is expected to uphold the coaching standards established by Alpine, Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA), and the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
▪ Appropriate ACA/NCCP coaching certification
▪ Commitment to Safe Sport, athlete safety, and ethical coaching practices
▪ Ability to create age-appropriate high-performance training environments
▪ Technical expertise in alpine skill development and race preparation
▪ Effective communication and leadership skills with athletes, families, and staff
▪ Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning

Qualifications
▪ 3 years minimum experience coaching at FIS level
▪ Strong understanding of long-term athlete development principles

▪ Valid Driver’s License
▪ Ability to travel.
