Alpine Ontario Alpin is launching a new U18/U21 National Points Race Series. It’s built for athletes who want to keep racing after U16 without the time and cost of the FIS pathway.

High school and post-secondary racers juggle classes, jobs, coaching and more. This series gives them a fun, competitive place to race and stay connected to Ontario’s ski community. FIS racers are welcome too when schedules allow, so old club friends can race together again.

What’s included
Each event offers GS or SL races, training or warm-up courses where the host hill permits, and a Saturday banquet. Events open with a territorial welcome from the host First Nation. Racing on the final day ends by 2:00 p.m. so athletes get home in time for school.

Awards go to the top five by birth year and gender. We’ll also hand out the Biggest Mover Award for the biggest jump from start bib to finish, plus the athlete-voted Tokyo Drift award for best fall.

2026-27 calendar

  • Jan 30-31: Mansfield Ski Club, 3x SL
  • Mar 13-15: Antoine Mountain (North Bay Ski Club), 3x GS

Who can race
All U18/U21 racers: graduating U16 OCUP/SCUP athletes, high school and college/university racers, active coaches and FIS racers. Up to 25 spots are held for out-of-province athletes.

You don’t need a club coach with you. Host clubs will pair independent athletes with a qualified coach for the captains’ meeting and protests. Athletes must be registered U18/U21 with AOA/ACA or hold a weekend race licence (details to come). A compliant helmet is required, but FIS skis are not. ACA National Competition Rules apply, along with Provincial Competition Rules where relevant.

National Points vs. FIS Racing
National Points are Alpine Canada’s national ranking system. They set start order and seeding, and help athletes track progress year to year. The National Point Series are not a replacement for FIS racing.  Top alpine racers wishing to pursue opportunities with the Ontario Development Ski Team, Ontario Ski Team, and competitive University programs in Canada and the NCAA requires the associated investments of time and resources in FIS programs to pursue such a pathway.  The new National Point Series are intended to retain a large cohort of ski racers who love to race and will strengthen the U18/U21 ski community
