Introduction
TSC is a dynamic, family-oriented ski club, with a rich ski racing heritage. We offer programs from the Entry Level to the Elite level. The club is based in Collingwood, Ontario, and runs its programs out of Blue Mountain Resort. The TSC U08 Lead Coach’s primary focus is to manage, a safe effective skill development program, that is athlete-focused and in alignment with the LTAD and TSC Alpine Programs’ vision to “Inspire Excellence in Sport and Life”.
Certifications
Canadian Ski Coaches Development Level or Canadian Ski Instructors Level 2 and Canadian Ski Coaches Entry Level
Duties
On Snow Training and Preparation Program
· Participate with the Head Coach in developing TSC’s U08 training program in line with the athletes needs and development objectives
· Communicate U08 training plans and objectives to the athletes, families, and the team of U08 Coaches
· Deliver on hill coaching and training sessions
· Manage training environments; preparation and safety
· Conduct; athlete/parent meetings , U08 coach communication meetings
· Participate in installation/management of on hill safety measures when required
· Maintain training records
· Communicate athlete progress with Parents
· Manage any injury return to activity plan in conjunction with the medical recommendations and TSC RTA policy
TSC works closely with Jozo Weider ski club and many other regional programs because of these close relationships it is incumbent on all TSC staff to be respectful of BMR and their staff.
Competition Program
· Be knowledgeable about appropriate local, national rules and regulations that govern ski racing
· Conduct Parent team information meetings
· Mentor U08 coaches in course setting training environments
· Supervise athletes off the hill when necessary
Equipment
· Assist with equipment selection (skis, boots, bindings, poles, helmets, goggles)
· Manage on hill equipment requirements (gates, drills, timing systems, video camera)
Administration
· Complete necessary forms for administration of program
· Create & communicate athlete/program calendar of events, training and racing
· Manage athlete behavior when you have duty of care
· Provide written reports to parents and Head Coach when required
· Manage athlete/parent communications in a timely manner
· Nominate athletes for club/athlete awards
U08 Staff
· provide direction and informal mentorship to assistant coach(s)
General Communications
· Maintain timely regular communication with key individuals and groups
– TSC Head Coach
– TSC Alpine Admin.
– Club athletes & parents
Professional Development
· Attend regularly scheduled PD sessions with the Head Coach
· Review age appropriate technical videos and publications and conduct on snow PD sessions for U08 coaching staff
Job Types: Seasonal, Part-time
Contract length: 3 months
Part-time hours: 24 per week
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
