Performance & Development Mandate
The National Ski Academy (NSA), celebrating 40 years, is a high-performance alpine racing academy
dedicated to producing competitive, results-driven athletes. For four decades, our student-athletes have
achieved measurable success at U14, U16, FIS, OST, NCAA, and national team levels.
Reporting to the Executive Director, we are seeking a results-driven, high-performance coach to build and
coach our U14/U16 program.
This position will elevate the U14 athlete development, preparing them to excel and to successfully transition
to U16 and beyond at an elite level.
Position Summary: Why This Role Matters
The U14/U16 High Performance Alpine Coach plays a critical role in the technical, tactical, physical, and
personal development of young alpine athletes during a key stage of their competitive pathway. This position
is responsible for creating a positive, high-performance training environment that supports long-term athlete
development while fostering confidence, resilience, discipline, and a strong team culture.
The coach will lead on-snow training, competition preparation, athlete progression, and communication with
families and program stakeholders, while ensuring athlete safety and well-being remain a top priority.
Key Responsibilities
Athlete Development
▪ Develop and deliver age-appropriate high-performance alpine training programs for U14 athletes
▪ Build strong technical siing fundamentals, including edge control, pressure management, tactical
awareness, and terrain adaptability
▪ Support athletes in developing race strategy, course inspection skills, and competition readiness
▪ Promote long-term athlete development principles and sustainable progression
Performance Coaching
▪ Plan and lead on-snow training sessions, camps, and race support
▪ Analyze athlete performance and provide constructive feedback
▪ Support physical preparation, mobility, recovery, and healthy training habits
▪ Help athletes develop mental resilience, confidence, accountability, and focus under pressure
Athlete Well-Being & Safety
▪ Maintain a safe and structured training environment at all times
▪ Monitor athlete readiness, fatigue, and overall well-being
▪ Promote safe decision making in varying snow, weather, and course conditions
▪ Ensure compliance with the NSA, provincial, and national safety standards
Team Culture & Leadership
▪ Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture
▪ Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and personal responsibility
▪ Build strong relationships with athletes, parents, coaching staff, and program leadership
▪ Serve as a positive role model and mentor for young athletes
Communication & Administration
▪ Communicate training plans, schedules, and athlete progress effectively with families and staff
▪ Attend races, meetings, camps, and coach development opportunities as required
▪ Responsible for program planning, logistics, equipment coordination, and athlete evaluations
▪ Collaborate with other coaches and support staff to align athlete development pathways
Qualifications
The U14/U16 High Performance Coach is expected to uphold the coaching standards established by Alpine
Ontario Alpin (AOA), Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA), and the National Coaching Certification Program
(NCCP).
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
▪ Appropriate ACA/NCCP coaching certification or progression toward certification
▪ Strong understanding of Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles
▪ Commitment to Safe Sport, athlete safety, and ethical coaching practices
▪ Ability to create age-appropriate high-performance training environments
▪ Technical expertise in alpine skill development and race preparation
▪ Effective communication and leadership skills with athletes, families, and staff
▪ Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning

Qualifications
▪ 3-5 years experience coaching competitive alpine ski athletes, preferably within U14/U16
programming
▪ Strong understanding of long-term athlete development principles
▪ Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
▪ Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
▪ Current CPR/First Aid certification
▪ Valid Drivers License
▪ Ability to travel.
