Kris Baird

This award is presented to one Ontario ski club that has distinguished themselves as being invested in their members and athletes on and off the hill. They provide exceptional ski racing programming, supporting the development of athletic success and have built an incredible culture for its members and their families.

Nominations for Club of the Year must be a registered club with AOA in good standing for the current season. The nomination may be submitted by members of that same club who may or may not be registered AOA members.

The winner is determined by votes from the Alpine Ontario Alpin community.

Batawa Ski Racing Club;

  1. We are one of the few Racing Clubs that retain athletes through to U19, and we have increased our athlete base by 25% This year to 108 athletes.
  2. Our athletes are competitive with the top racing clubs on the circuit, placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd as well as many in the top 10.
  3. Our Club is run by Volunteers, from our Head Coach to Coaches to Board of Directors to all on hill helpers.  No paid positions!!
  4. We believe that our strength comes from our strong ties to the community, and we are a family that help each other and others in need.  We run a successful Annual Ski Swap where we aim to bring affordable ski equipment  to the community.
  5. We have a strong Board of Directors that oversees Club Governance by making necessary By-Law changes and implementing Code of Conduct for Athletes, Coaches, Board of Directors, Parents and their guests to ensure a strong future for the Batawa Ski Racing Club.
  6. We no longer hold races at the U12 and up level, however, we host invitationals for other clubs.
  7. I believe that our small club has the heart of a giant, fueled by volunteerism,  We consistently churn out competitive athletes and do not get tired of hearing “Batawa, where is that” as we grace the podiums race after race!!
