I want to thank you and the other members of the Ontario Parasport Collective for your collaboration and hard work to align efforts towards a collective strategy and common goal of an accessible sport system. I am very impressed by your work and understanding of its importance.
Building on the success of the 2017 Invictus Games and in celebration of Ontario 150, I recently announced a legacy investment of $820,000 in 2017-18 to increase awareness, participation and leadership development for parasport in Ontario. Funding will support the Collective’s initiatives including pathway and system alignment, education and leadership. In addition, a new Provincial/Multi-Sport Organization grant based program will be launched to support the development of parasport programming and to build system capacity.
There will be a forthcoming announcement of this additional funding, along with our continued funding to our Provincial/ Multi-Sport Organizations. At that time, I would encourage you to share this exciting news with your colleagues and networks across the broader parasport community to build enthusiasm.
