COLLINGWOOD, ON (December 12th, 2019) — Today the Southern Ontario Division (SOD) arm of Alpine Ontario Alpin (AOA) announces the formation of a new committee to act in an advisory role to the AOA staff and AOA Board of Directors. The SOD Committee will meet on the first Tuesday of each month as they oversee the largest division at AOA representing 85% of the AOA membership or approximately 3,720 active racing members and over 10,000 affiliated members and stakeholders.

The new Southern Ontario Division Committee will play a role in overseeing some important tasks such as the coach and athlete development from grassroots level through to the SOD Ski Team. They will also act as a liaison to all member clubs within the division, provide guidance and support to the SOD Officials committee including risk management and safety and lastly, the committee will advise and support the SOD Cup schedule including all invitational races which amount to 100+ of races each winter.

SOD Program Director, TES Hynes comments, “This has been in the works for a long time and I would like to offer a sincere thank you to the following committee members for their time and service to the Southern Ontario Division. We are here to help all SOD members so please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of us with questions or comments as we all strive to improve and grow this great sport in Southern Ontario.”

Southern Ontario Division (SOD) represents 27 ski clubs in the area from Belleville to London to Peterborough with the most condensed population of skiers in the Collingwood area. These racers and clubs make up over 84% of the Provincial Sport Organization of Alpine Ontario Alpin and as such offer its membership programs at the U12, U14, U16 & U19/21 level for both the SOD CUP and OCUP development streams. Alpine Ontario Alpin (AOA)
