Alpine Ontario Alpin will be launching our Coach Education Webinar series starting in October. The 2020 Coach Education Webinar series (scroll farther down the page for more) provided an opportunity to keep the coaching community engaged during the pandemic lock down and remove barriers for participation for many coaches. The 2020 series was a success in regard to participation from coaches across the province of all levels. AOA’s ability to offer high quality coach education at no cost to coaches was also an important component in a successful offering and a commitment AOA will continue in 2021.
New for 2021 is the introduction of webinars for athletes and parents to educate more of our community so our athletes can excel and be supported on their journey. The 2021 webinar series will focus on continuing to foster Safe Sport learning including COVID learnings from the Ontario Ski Team coaches, Safe Sport updates from ACA, Understanding social media, Importance of Mental Health and Leadership training. Cost of these webinars will be free of charge and 1 PD credit will be earned for every 2 sessions attended for coaches. Parent sessions will run in November and will be updated below in the coming weeks.

Alpine Ontario Alpin will be launching a follow up to our successful spring coach education webinars series starting Wednesday October 7 continuing through December. The spring webinar series provided an opportunity to continue to keep the coaching community engaged during the pandemic lock down and this follow up series will continue to engage as well as remove barriers for participation for many coaches. AOA typically runs a 2-day indoor coaches conference in October and/or a on-hill 2-day Kick Start event which can be difficult for coaches to commit to, not to mention public health restrictions will limit our ability to deliver in person training this season. Virtual education opportunities spread over 3 months will provide many opportunities for more coaches to participate and tune into topics that are most relevant to them.
The fall webinar series will focus on skills and knowledge alpine ski race coaches will need to successfully navigate the 2021 season including COVID learnings from other individual sports, Return to Sport, safe sport best practices, jury workshop, course setting, CSC pathway, AOA training priorities and some surprise presenters from the worldwide ski and leadership community. Cost of these webinars will be free of charge and 1 PD credit will be earned for every 2 sessions attended.
